6 Trends To Try For Your Spring 2019 Wedding

Have you said “I do” to a spring 2019 wedding? If so, you’re probably beginning to plan and prepare. You want the big day to be personal to you, but also modern, incorporating your favorite of-the-moment wedding ideas. As your nuptials draw closer, take a look at 5 trends to try for your spring 2019 wedding.
  1. Bold Silhouettes for Wedding Gowns
The wedding gowns designers showcased for spring 2019 featured bold silhouettes. As you shop for your perfect dress, look for a gown that makes a major statement. Directional silhouettes, interesting lines, and unexpected angles are all having their moment in 2019.
  1. Bigger and Better Florals
Whether they’re huge three-dimensional blooms at your hip, full-body floral lace, or embroidered flowers on your train, flowers are in for spring 2019. We’re seeing them big and beautiful on dresses for this season, so don’t be afraid to celebrate your love of all things floral.
  1. 70’s Color Resurgence
During the 70’s, people reveled in bright, vivid hues like purple, orange, and canary yellow. We’re seeing a comeback for these colors, but with a little modern twist. Check out shades like periwinkle, peach, and violet, as well as bright hues paired with pastels for balance.
  1. No More Seasonal Color Wheel
Another color trend? Throwing the old rules out the window. Spring palettes are no longer limited to traditional spring hues like faint pink, sky blue, light yellow, or pale green, and autumn isn’t tied to richer hues any more. Now you can show the love for those deeper, heartier hues any time of the year, as long as you bring in balance with a complementary tone.
  1. Drones and Video Mapping
Look for technology to play a huge role in spring 2019 weddings. Video mapping is catching on as it becomes more affordable; and with it, couples with be able to add extra interest and decor details to event spaces. Just ensure your photographer is licensed to fly, to avoid a collision or the possible injury of a guest.
Photography and videography also take on a modern twist with the use of drones. With a drone, you can get unique photography angles for truly memorable shots. Ask your photographer or video expert if using drone photography and video capture is a possibility for your wedding.
  1. Unplugged Ceremonies
Even as technology takes a leap forward, keep in mind that unplugged ceremonies are also becoming more popular. Consider having a wedding ceremony free from digital distraction. You can always allow your guests to take out their phones later, at the reception.

Planning A Great Holiday Office Party

Mingling and laughing with coworkers at the holiday office party is a highlight of the year for many employees. It’s a chance to relax, have fun, celebrate a year’s work well done, and enjoy delicious food together. Get the scoop on planning a great holiday office party for yourself and your colleagues.
Select a Planning Committee
Don’t try to plan everything yourself! You’ll be stressed out when you should be able to enjoy yourself at the party as well. Instead, recruit some savvy colleagues as your party planning committee, and work together to pull off the best event your company has seen.
Think of a Theme
Selecting a theme can make it easier to decide on decor, food, games, dress code, and more. Plus, a themed party is more fun! Why not try a theme like the Grammys, the Oscars, black and white, casino, or Broadway?
Since your party takes place during the holidays, you can always adopt related colors and elements as part of your theme. Your guests will love attending a party with a “holiday gala” theme that incorporates traditional celebrations, but with a new level of elegance.
Choose the Holiday Office Party Venue
Nothing says “You’re special” to your employees like taking them to an incredible venue for the holiday party. Nanina’s in the Park features gardens and grounds that are even beautiful in the winter months, along with elegant indoor spaces that form the perfect setting for a memorable event.
Explore the gardensballroominterior roomscuisine, and other offerings via our online photo gallery. You’ll get a sense of the rich furnishings and traditional decor, mixed with modern details that make our event space a prized destination for corporate events and weddings.
Double Up on Invitations
Sending out invitations in both paper and online form is the surest way to get the RSVPs you need for a proper head count. Have a company designer or a local artist design both the online and hard copy versions, and send them out to your guests well in advance.
If you’d like to go the extra mile, create a simple website where guests can see the theme, respond to the invitation, and start getting in the party spirit.
Order More Food than You Think
It’s always better to have too much food and drink than too little. Our award-winning in-house chefs at Nanina’s in the Park can help you get as close as possible to the amount of food you’ll need, with a comfortable buffer in place just in case some of your guests show up without having sent an RSVP.
You can view our lavish buffet options, including our extraordinary “Over the Top” menu, and our drink offerings when you visit Nanina’s in the Park online.
Plan Some Entertainment
Whether it’s a DJ and dancing, a truly impressive magician, a comedian, or live music and company awards, you’ll need some form of entertainment during the party. Our event specialists can recommend vendors and entertainment that will make the night even more memorable.
If you’d like to take your holiday office party to the next level this year, contact us at Nanina’s in the Park. We’d be happy to schedule a tour so you can see our venue and amenities for yourself. Don’t wait to book our venue for your holiday office party!

Should You Be Hosting A Wedding After-Party?

At some point during your wedding planning, you’ve probably heard about wedding after-parties. You may be thinking, “Is this really a thing? Should I be hosting one?” The experts say it’s totally up to you. Here are some things to keep in mind if you’re considering hosting a wedding after party.
Will your friends and family like the idea?
All families are different, and so are all friends. If your crew loves the idea of reveling late into the night, they’ll be thrilled at the concept of a wedding after party. And if your family members are night owls who love being together, chances are they’ll be into it, too.
Some families and friends, on the other hand, enjoy rising early rather than staying up late. They’ll appreciate getting to bed at a decent hour. Gauge the interest level that your guests may have in the after-party, and you’ll have some clue of whether it would be well-attended or not.
Do you have guests with care needs?
If you have older family members, friends with health issues, small children, and others who need care, having an after-party may not be the best idea. Even those friends and family members who could attend may need to serve as care-givers for those who are tired or less able to participate.
Can you afford it?
This is a big one for many couples. While you won’t be expected to pay for everyone’s drinks or food at the after-party, you may have costs related to transportation and venue reservation— and your own drinks.
You want the majority of your wedding budget to go towards the event itself, including the gorgeous venue, the magnificent spread of food, fabulous flowers, and top-notch music and entertainment
If you really want an after-party, see if you’re willing to cut costs in those areas to make it happen; or find another way to score the extra dollars you need.
Do you like the idea?
Keep in mind that you’re going to be exhausted, emotionally and physically, after preparing for the wedding and then smiling through the ceremony and the reception. Know your body and your mental capacity for long days and late nights.
If you think you’ll be able to keep going and live it up well into the night, you may be the perfect candidates for the after-party experience. However, if you suspect that the two of you will be happier leaving in the getaway car and slipping away to start your honeymoon, skip the after-party.
Whether you have a wedding after-party or not, consider giving your guests some options if they’d like to hang out together a little longer. You can create a fun list of bars and late-night destinations on your wedding website, or make cards that list those top choices so your guests can grab one as they leave your reception.
Above all, make sure your wedding experience is one that’s perfect for you as a couple! To gain professional ideas and a beautiful venue for your wedding day, contact Nanina’s in the Park and schedule a tour of our ballroom, bridal suite, and grounds.

What To Wear To A Halloween Wedding

Are you invited to a Halloween wedding? With so much of Halloween centering on style and costumes, it can be tough to know how your hosts expect you to dress for the big day. Discover some clues and tips that will help you determine what to wear to a Halloween wedding.
Check the Invitation
The invitation is your first clue. Chances are, if the bride and groom expect you to come in costume, they’ll say so. If the invitation doesn’t specifically encourage or require costumes, save the dressing up for your own Halloween party.
Some couples specify a particular costume theme, like Star Wars, fairy tale, masquerade, pirates, or Vikings. If guests are encouraged to choose costumes related to a theme, it’s best to stay within the suggested realm.
Ask the Bride or Groom
Maybe the wording on the invitation is vague, or you have other questions about attending in costume. Feel free to get in touch with the bride or groom, or their wedding coordinator! Asking questions before the wedding is far better than feeling silly or out of place during the entire event.
Choose a Tasteful Costume
A wedding is an important ceremony, and it’s all about the bride and groom. If costumes are encouraged, you’ll want to wear something that isn’t too garish or attention-getting— you don’t want to snag the spotlight from the special couple.
If you’re a guy, consider classic options like a wizard, newsboy, secret agent (think James Bond), Tony Stark (Iron Man without the suit), or a cowboy. The Victorian era and the Roaring Twenties are usually favorites when it comes to period costumes. Women have plenty of period costume choices as well, from famous queens to flappers to women of note like Amelia Earhart and Marie Curie.
Wear Something Neutral
Even if your hosts are not requesting that you come in costume, they may have some fun props and masks available at the photo booth. Wear a dress or suit that’s neutral enough to go with any Halloween mask or accessory you may choose. Plus, sticking to neutral or darker tones ensures that your outfit won’t clash with the Halloween wedding decor in the reception photos.
Find Subtle Ways to Get in Character
Remember, you can play into the fun without purchasing an entire costume. A red dress you already own, paired with white makeup, red heart-shaped lips, and a crown turns you into the Queen of Hearts. Drape a red and yellow scarf over your dark suit, draw a lightning-shaped scar on your forehead, and grab a pair of round glasses, and you’re Harry Potter. Feel free to get creative with items you already own.
If in Doubt, Don’t
If you’re not sure if a particular costume is too revealing, too casual, or too over-the-top, just say no. Listen to your instincts and take it down a notch or two.
Whether a Halloween wedding involves costumes or not, it’s a fantastic time to enjoy a little extra fun as you celebrate the marriage of friends or family members. If you’d like to start planning your own wedding celebration, contact Nanina’s in the Park to take a tour of our elegant rooms and beautiful grounds.
